Each of the answers feeding into this meta have synonyms that contain consecutive card values from 8 to Ace (and which fit the provided sequence already containing JACK and A(ce):
The leftover letters can be directly associated with the cards shown. When these cards are sorted into ascending suit runs (i.e. Diamonds, Clubs, (Joker), Spades, Hearts) they reveal the answer to how Jack is feeling, rather than dull, now that he has followed your advice: HE IS A SHINING STAR (a reference to the movie The Shining, which is the origin of the phrase "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy").
